| Responsibilities |
|
The Emergency Medicine Residency will be responsible
for:
- Resident expenses as outlined in the policy below.
- Providing time off for EM-1 SAEM conference
The Emergency Medicine Resident will be responsible
for:
- Expenses exceeding the policy below
- Obtaining time off for activities other than
the EM-1 SAEM conference.
- Residents can use up to 2 weeks of Elective time
for academic activities such as research presentation
and national organization involvement.

| Policy |
- All Three Years: Subscriptions to MD Consult, EM
Abstracts, Membership to ACEP/EMRA, AAEM, SAEM (which
includes subscriptions to Annals of Emergency Medicine,
Journal of Emergency Medicine and Academic Emergency
Medicine).
- All Three Years: National organization involvement
- residents that are selected as resident representatives
for national EM organizations (EMRA, AAEM) or selected
on national EM committees (SAEM, ACEP, AAEM) can receive
up to $500.00 per academic year for expenses. Time
off as stated above.
- EM-1: Book allotment of $100.00 to be used to buy
the Comprehensive Study Guide or another emergency
medicine text if you already have the Study Guide.
ACLS, ATLS and PALS Provider
Courses. $1000.00 for attendance at the SAEM conference
with time-off.
- EM-2: $300.00 used to purchase textbooks or other
educational materials.
- EM-3: $100.00 used to purchase textbooks or other
educational materials.
- The Department supports residents to present research
nationally. Time off is the responsibility of the
resident. Stipend is determined by the Research Section
(Dr. Brent Asplin).
