Healthcare Administration, Leadership and Management Fellowship

Overview:

This two-year Healthcare Administration, Leadership, and Management (HALM) fellowship prepares physicians for leadership roles in healthcare. The fellowship is hosted by the Healthpartners Institute and is based at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Healthpartners is the largest consumer governed nonprofit healthcare organization in the nation. It is an integrated healthcare organization providing healthcare delivery and the administration of a healthplan. This unique environment enables fellows to learn directly from a variety of leaders with varied expertise in healthcare.

Content: 

A two-year fellowship that includes:

  • Completion of a master’s degree in business administration or healthcare administration
  • Didactics and participation in healthcare administration, leadership, and management
  • Mentorship and advising from healthcare leaders with expertise in leadership, finance, information technology, quality improvement, operations, healthcare law, and innovation
  • Completion of a project for presentation or publication
  • The practice of clinical medicine

Funding: 

Funding for the fellow’s salary and tuition comes from working half time clinically at Regions Hospital and/or affiliated outlying facilities, CME and tuition reimbursement.
